Sukau Rainforest Lodge is an eco-lodge set amidst the Borneo rainforest on the banks of the Kinabatangan River, with the highest concentration of wildlife in South East Asia, and is 13 km from Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary. Its idyllic location, and quality tours, attracting a large number of visitors.
The Lodge’s 20 units of villas exudes Borneo vibes and lush comfort, with air-conditioned rooms,en-suite bathrooms and essential amenities. It has the Attenborough Boardwalk, Ape Gallery, Pool, Kadai Souvenir shop, Halia Spa and Gomantong Hall.
The Melapi restaurant on the jetty, overlooks the river, with some wildlife viewing while dining. It serves western/authentic Asian fusion cuisine using local produce and its organic garden. It also cater for gluten free/vegan diets. Buffet Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served and private dinners can be arranged. The Bar and Gecko Lounge is the perfect place to enjoy a drink with family and friends.
Popular are the wildlife safari with walks to the nearby ox-bow lake and boat cruises along the Kinabatangan River. Other activities include, “Orang-utan & Langur Trek” and the “Elephant Search”, or watching monkeys and rare birds flit among the trees while cooling off in the refreshing pool. Batik painting, and authentic cooking are also offered.
The lodge is accessible by road or by boat, but the river route is an opportunity for guests to spot wild proboscis monkeys, macaques, crocodiles, and other wildlife during the trip from Sandakan to Sukau. Visitors are encouraged to bringing along their cameras and binoculars.
