Antelope Canyons

Unearthly in its beauty, the Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon, once home to herds of pronghorn antelope within the Navajo Reservation, east of Page, Arizona in the United States. Its remarkable and mysterious beauty draws nature-lovers and photographers near and far.

Antelope Canyon consists of two separate, photogenic slot canyon sections – Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon, created over thousands of years by the relentless forces of water and wind. It slowly carved and sculpted the sandstone into fascinating forms, textures, and shapes. The Navajo Nation call the Upper Antelope Canyon, ‘Tse bighanilini,’ which means ‘the place where water runs through rocks.’

The canyons entrance is at the ground level. and entry is restricted to guided tours led by authorized tour guides. The beams of direct sunlight radiate down from openings in the top of the canyon, creating an amazing light effect or a rare ‘shaft of light’ in the canyon.
