One of the most awe-inspiring sight in northern Vietnam, is the picturesque scenery of terraced rice fields in the mountainous district of Yen Bali province.
The famous Mu Cang Chai rice terraces has long been a favorite destination for thousands of photographers and tourists alike to witness and capture its inspiring beauty.
Mu Cang Chai is located in a rural district of Yên Bái Province, about 300 km northwest of Hanoi, Northeast region of Vietnam. All year round the rice fields are a picture-perfect beauty, with a variety of colors that changes with the seasons.
The hilly rural district, some 1000 meters above sea level, is difficult to cultivate, yet remarkably these terraced rice fields can grow down these steep hills and mountain sides. Ingeniously, the locals have overcome the difficulty by choosing the hills to form flat lands and creating their own method of growing and harvesting the rice. By doing so they have created a spectacular scenery, particularly during the harvesting season.
These rice terraces of Mu Cang Chai demonstrate the ingenuity of the human hand in the mastery of nature, to create the unique beauty that captivates the heart of all travelers.
