Phi Phi Islands, is a six island group in Thailand, situated between the island of Phuket and the west Strait of Malacca coast of the mainland. They are part of Hat Nopparat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park. Only reachable by boat from Phuket and Krabi, Phi Phi Islands brings some of the most beautiful seaside landscapes on the planet.
The two main islands, Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh, are of striking natural beauty, with vertical cliffs capped with green foliage, tropical sandy beaches and vivid turquoise waters teeming with colourful marine life. The inhabited Phil Phil Don, features accommodations, restaurants, bars and shops. It is famous for scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking and other marine recreational activities.
Phil Phil Leh, is uninhabited but features bays and beaches, including the famous Maya Bay, which is one of the main tourist attraction since Leonardo DiCaprio movie, ‘The Beach.’ However, because of the damaging effects of over-tourism, Maya Bay is closed until 2021. However, the neighbouring Phi Phi Don Island, remains open as usual.
