Our story is set in England during the 9th Century amid the Viking invasion of Britain. You play the game as a Viking warrior named Eivor, leading your people against the infamous Anglo-Saxon King Aelfred and his kingdoms for control.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is an upcoming video game developed by Ubisoft. Its story also follows on from Odyssey and will act as a conclusion to the story that started with Assassin’s Creed Origins back in 2018. Wars will rage. Kingdoms will fall. This is the age of the Vikings.
The game casts you as male or female Eivor, a fierce Viking raider raised on tales of battle and glory. Our main protagonist leads a group of Norsemen that have been driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources in the ninth century. Your journey sees you crossing the North Sea and travelling to England, where you must carve out a new future for their clan, reliving the ruthless fighting style of Viking warriors with a revamped combat system that includes the ability to dual-wield weapons against a greater variety of enemies than ever before.
With little resources at their disposal, players can lead raids to any promising location they see from the waterfront using their long ship to earn much-needed riches and resources, Ubisoft explains in a press release. As the Vikings begin to settle in their new home, they encounter resistance from the Saxons, including King Aelfred of Wessex, who denounces them as heathens and looks to be the sole ruler of a civilised England. Against all odds, Eivor must do what is necessary to keep Valhalla within reach.
Valhalla has been in development for more than two and a half years by the Assassin’s Creed Origins team at Ubisoft Montreal and supported by 14 other Ubisoft studios worldwide. The title’s director is Ashraf Ismail who previously led work on Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The game’s narrative director Darby McDevitt said that they recognised there would be similarities to the God of War games, but felt those games “actually skew very heavily towards the mythology”, while with Valhalla, they wanted an “historically grounded” experience.

Based on the skills you have, you gain power. That's how we look at that mechanism in the world; it's really about your capacities and what you can do.""There will still be a number attributed to this power value, but that it won't be influenced in the same way as both Origins and Odyssey. It's a sense of power rather than levels."
