The famous, annual Iceland’s Reykjavik Arts Festival celebrates all arts, with an emphasis on innovation and increased variety in Icelandic arts. The festival was first held in 1970 and has led the way in Icelandic cultural activities ever since.
Held annually in May-June, Reykjavik promotes the vibrant Icelandic art scene as well as international culture with exceptional art forms – concerts, theatre, dance, music, opera, literature and visual arts, performances, exhibits and events.
Throughout the city, Icelandic and many national and international artists combining their superpowers to entertain and enlighten locals and visitors. It has been a catalyst for the creation of new works and a major force in the development of cultural diversity in Iceland.
